To achieve our mission, we also need to safeguard our platform against financial crime and ensure our customers' money are safe. The Mitigation Handling Platform team plays a critical role in this by building tools that empower thousands of Wise Servicing agents from Singapore to Austin to effectively verify customers and mitigate risk securely. These tools function as an adaptable platform, allowing other Wise product teams to evolve them to their specific needs while providing a standardized solution for scalable operations.

We looking for a Engineering Lead who can guide the team that are developing the infrastructure that provides teams at Wise with insights into their operational cost and bottlenecks on their operations processes. This empowers them to enhance the product, reducing Wise's cost for customers.

The team you'll be leading is a Mitigation Handling Platform
We're a cross-functional team of backend, frontend engineers working hand-in-hand with a Product Manager, Analyst, and Designer. Together, we deliver adaptable, impactful solutions as a platform for Wise Servicing Agents and Product Teams. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do—we value ownership, knowledge sharing, and a commitment to building stable, scalable systems while embracing fast-paced learning and iteration.

What does success look like?

• You'll be having a real world impact by building back office solutions that will enable Wise Servicing Agents across the world to verify Wise customers and keep their money safe.
• You'll have onboarded and found your place through understanding your team and squad vision, how you can contribute and grow the team further
• You'll understand how our values can help you guide your work
• You'll understand the reasons behind bottlenecks in Servicing processes and and how to go about solving them
• You'll understand our agents and the impact our product makes in their work
• You'll successfully lead a team of 5 engineers and continue to grow this business area

What does it take?

• You have proven experience in leading and mentoring software engineers, as you enjoy helping others grow and succeed.
• Great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex, technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
• You thrive in a collaborative environment and have experience working effectively with globally distributed cross-functional peers like designers, product managers, and analysts.
• You are not just a people manager, you're a technical and product passionate contributor who can grow teams, individuals, initiatives and empower our ICs to expand their industry presence.
• You have strong technical expertise or background in OOP Languages (Java) and modern technology stacks on technologies such as REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems and CI/CD pipelines.
• A track record of writing clean, testable, maintainable code and a strong belief in best practices like code reviews, open feedback, and continuous improvement.
• The ability to design technical solutions that balance latency, throughput, and scalability.
