The Native Media Platform team is part of the Real-Time Communication organisation, powering voice and video calling for Microsoft Teams, Dynamics, and the Copilot family of products. We build a secure, modular platform that runs seamlessly across Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux, and the Web - bringing real-time communication experiences to devices of the user's choice. Our technology impacts millions of users daily, and we're looking for a passionate engineer to help us extend these experiences to more products and scenarios. As a Software Engineer, you will design and build our core media platform SDK capabilities to work across a variety of desktop and mobile platforms.

- Collaborates with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a scenario.
- Drives identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.
- Creates, implements, optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to establish and improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).
- Leverages subject-matter expertise of product features and partners with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive a workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items.
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.
- Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field
- OR equivalent experience.
- Substantial professional experience developing software in C++.
- Strong communication skills.
- Motivation to learn and grow.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with realtime communications, native SDKs, and/or media domains.
- Experience building C++ libraries
- Experience with native cross-platform codebases
- Familiarity with real-time communications technologies such as WebRTC
