The Role:

The Bulgaria Country Expert will be responsible for providing in-depth research and expert analysis on political, social, and human rights developments in Bulgaria. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in law, academia, journalism, political science, or NGO/human rights work, who possess deep knowledge of the region and are capable of producing accurate, well-researched, and articulate reports in English.

The Bulgaria Country Expert's specialization goes beyond general knowledge and often involves in-depth understanding of various aspects of Bulgaria, including its political, social, economic, cultural, and historical conditions. These experts typically have a strong academic background, professional experience, or extensive research on Bulgaria. Their expertise is crucial in providing accurate and comprehensive information to assist decision-makers in various contexts, such as asylum cases, trade disputes, or legal matters involving international issues.

The role involves supporting legal professionals, NGOs, and academic institutions by delivering detailed, country-specific insights related to political developments, human rights, social structures, and legal frameworks in Bulgaria

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce expert reports analyzing conditions in Bulgaria related to social, political, legal, or human rights concerns, based on individual case contexts.
  • Provide objective, well-researched insight to inform legal arguments, documentation, or case evaluations.
  • Deliver professional, well-documented reports to support legal cases (including asylum and immigration) and academic/public policy projects.
  • Review case-specific documents and apply your expertise to relevant questions.
  • Follow a structured legal report template with support from our team at every step.
  • Maintain high standards of neutrality, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Ideal Profile:
  • Substantial knowledge and experience dealing with political, social, and/or human rights issues in Bulgaria
  • A background in law, political science, international relations, human rights, journalism, or a related field.
  • Accreditation or membership in a recognized professional body is an advantage.
  • A portfolio of written work (e.g., academic articles, reports, legal briefs, journalistic pieces) related to Bulgaria
  • Fluency in English and strong writing skills are essential
  • Strong punctuality and ability to meet deadlines while delivering high-quality work.
