The team you will be joining: Personal Onboarding Verification
The Personal Onboarding Verification team is part of the Global KYC and Onboarding Squad. The team responsible for KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures that our customers have to go through before they are compliant to start using our products. The team's responsibility is the whole onboarding verification for individuals, which spans end-to-end from triggering certain checks, through information and document collection flows further to automated and manual review (including in-house ML models), and up to making the final decisions on the customer onboarding.

Having product-focused and forward-thinking engineers has allowed Wise to cater to the needs of customers unlike any other business. We've built a world-leading platform and product, but there is still more to do.

As the Engineering Lead for Personal Onboarding Verification team, you will:

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a cross-functional team of engineers, supporting their growth and empowering them to do their best work.
  • Work closely with the function leads in the team (Product, Design, Analytics, Data Science) and your team members to shape the roadmap, set the technical and product vision and ensure the team delivers on product goals in a robust and scalable way.
  • Enable your team to succeed by ensuring they are well-resourced, can plan effectively, and are set up to commit to and deliver on their roadmap.
  • Have a deep understanding of the tech and product of your teams - building out a clear tech strategy that follows from our product and marketing goals, setting high standards for quality, leading by example.
  • Own the health and productivity of the team, fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with other engineering leads and teams across the Squad and other Wise teams to ensure your team's work is aligned with the wider technical strategy.

Qualifications

A Bit About You

  • You possess strong technical background in OOP Languages (Java preferably) and modern technology stacks - you will be evaluated on your coding and system design skills.
  • You have proven experience in leading and mentoring software engineers.
  • You enjoy helping others grow and succeed.
  • You have a strong product and customer mindset and experience building customer facing products.
  • You have experience working with and building distributed, high scalability systems and microservices architectures
  • You're a great communicator who can articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • You thrive in a collaborative environment and have experience working effectively with cross-functional peers like designers, product managers, analysts and data scientists.
