Tallinn Spain Remote, Estonia Veriff Full time €80,000 - €120,000 per year

At Veriff, we're building the foundational trust layer of the internet, and digital identities and biometric registries are central to that mission. This team isn't just shipping features, it's shaping the future of digital identity to make it safer, faster, and more reliable. We're guided by metrics like coverage, adoption, conversion rate, availability and latency, user satisfaction, and real-world impact against emerging threats.

We're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Digital Identities & Biometric Registries team, the group driving Veriff's shift from physical-document-centric verification to Omni-method Identity using digital documents and identity registries. This team builds the intelligence and infrastructure behind Digital ID methods, Registry integrations, and the orchestration tied into our Identity Platform.

You'll lead a high-performing team working across backend systems, integrations, user experience, and regulatory requirements. In close collaboration with Product, Platform, Data Science, and Legal teams, you'll help ensure Veriff stays secure, responsive, and future-proof against increasingly sophisticated identity threats.

Join us if you're ready to tackle deep technical and partner-integration challenges, shape how users interact with Digital IDs and Identity Registries, and help Veriff become the trust authority for the digital age.

What you'll do to help us protect honest people online:

  • Lead, grow, and develop a high-performing engineering team responsible for core digital identity and registry infrastructure, including digital document ingestion, credential exchange, consent and security, and biometric validation where required.
  • Define the team's structure and evolution as it scales, introducing clear processes and scalable execution practices.
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of digital ID and registry products, from integrations and orchestration into our identity platform to user experience, ensuring performance, scalability, and regulatory compliance from idea to measurable outcomes.
  • Partner with product leadership on strategy for coverage, adoption, prioritization, and pricing of digital ID and registry methods, shaping roadmap, technical architecture, and go-to-market readiness.
  • Drive initiatives that bring critical integrations, orchestration, and verification logic in-house, reducing third-party dependencies and increasing control over performance and innovation.
  • Ensure operational excellence, observability, and robustness across all systems under your team's ownership.
  • Build a team culture centered on trust, technical curiosity, and high-quality execution.
  • Mentor engineers, providing feedback and support for long-term growth.

You are the right future Veriffian for the job if:

  • You bring technical leadership in platform engineering, integrations, or systems architecture, and you're passionate about solving real-world identity and trust challenges.
  • You've built or led teams owning end-to-end products that combine backend systems and third-party registry APIs, and customer-facing integrations.
  • You're comfortable in high-growth environments and have designed systems that scale with both product adoption and team size.
  • You balance technical depth with people leadership, especially as the team grows and the role becomes more strategic
  • You navigate ambiguity well and add structure where none exists, while keeping the team focused and motivated.
  • You're excited to work in a regulated domain, partnering with legal and compliance to create safe, privacy-preserving experiences.

You're an especially awesome match if you have:

  • Experience leading teams in digital identity, identity registries, or biometrics, especially in authentication, user verification, or registry checks.
  • Familiarity with standards like OAuth2/OIDC, verifiable credentials, and eIDAS-style wallets.
  • Exposure to regulated domains such as identity verification, fintech, or healthcare, with a strong grasp of data privacy and consent.
  • Proven ability to integrate registry and digital ID systems into real-time user experiences, including platform- or SDK-based flows.
  • Experience partnering with platform and data teams to deploy services efficiently and monitor performance post-deployment.
  • Strong systems thinking, with an eye for both short-term impact and long-term differentiation.
