Join us on this journey and let's build the future of finance together
What is this role about? As the Fraud Manager, you'll take full ownership of Bondora's fraud prevention strategy across markets. Your mission is to build a scalable, data-driven fraud detection and prevention function from the ground up, defining strategy, tools, and processes that balance growth and risk. This is a rare opportunity to shape how a fast-growing fintech protects its customers and platform while maintaining exceptional user experience. You'll lead a small team of fraud analysts and manual review agents, collaborate with data and product teams, and directly impact loss rates, approval rates, and operational efficiency.
Why this role is special? This isn't about inheriting a system - it's about building one from zero. You'll define how fraud prevention operates at Bondora, select the tools and frameworks you need, and set the vision for how we stay ahead of evolving fraud threats across multiple markets.
Your main responsibilities will be:- Own the fraud prevention strategy and roadmap across markets — rules, models, and challenge flows — to deliver measurable outcomes (loss rate, capture, false-positive rate, approval rate).
- Lead and coach a small team of manual review agents and a business data analyst; set SOPs, QA, SLAs, and productivity goals.
- Partner with Credit Managers to align risk appetite and present changes to the Credit Committee with clear impact estimates.
- Operate and evolve our fraud decisioning stack (Databricks/Delta + vendors like SEON, LexisNexis, Sift, Telesign); build monitoring, alerting, and incident playbooks.
- Run investigations and escalations (rings, mules, ATO/synthetic ID); coordinate with Compliance/MLRO, legal enforcement, and counterparties.
- Publish regular fraud performance reports and drive continuous improvements to onboarding and data collection.
- Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
- Deep understanding of fraud schemes, product vulnerabilities, and preventive measures.
- Ability to reconstruct fraud case development based on limited data.
- Experience translating fraud prevention needs into technical specifications for product and development teams.
- Comfort with SQL, Databricks, Tableau, and fraud prevention tools (e.g., SEON, LexisNexis, Sift, Telesign).
- Experience working with internal back-office systems.
- Fluency in English (required); knowledge of Estonian, Latvian, or Russian is an advantage.
- Contribute to Bondora's ambitious goal of reaching 1BN in revenue. Your skills and efforts will directly impact our growth trajectory and shape the future of our company.
- Our employees deserve the best. We recognize our people with a competitive salary and a generous benefits package (5 weeks of vacation, private healthcare compensation, hobby grant, mental healthcare support, share options and much more)
- We provide an environment that encourages your personal and professional growth. As we constantly evolve and innovate, you'll have endless opportunities (and budget) to expand your skills and skyrocket your career.
