The Expansion Lead is tasked with overseeing and documenting marketplace operations across multiple cities from pre-launch to post-launch stages, ensuring high efficiency and impact at market launch. This includes monitoring performance metrics, spearheading operational efforts, and driving growth initiatives.

About the role

The Expansion Lead operates under the guidance of the Expansion Manager and is responsible for managing a subset of countries within the manager's portfolio. The Lead plays a crucial role in ensuring operational excellence and sustainable growth in each Expansion market under their purview.
 

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Track multiple market performances and act as a strategic advisor enabling local teams to succeed. Being knowledgeable about the competitive and operational nuances each of them may have
  • Conduct comprehensive research on a range of areas including competition, market dynamics and pricing; distill key findings into concise, impactful insights that will inform business decisions
  • Lead initiatives to increase supply, utilising a creative and data-driven approach to overcome early-stage market challenges
  • Guide markets to liquidity post-launch, ensuring a smooth transition from initial launch to sustainable operations
  • Continuously monitor a broad array of operational and marketplace metrics, using insights gathered to optimise and adjust our expansion strategy
  • Foster a culture of creativity and hands-on problem solving, finding innovative solutions to complex marketplace dynamics and create and maintain reliable playbooks for launching new markets, allowing local teams to efficiently execute on proven ways to attract and maintain supply

About you:

  • Operations Management: Hands-on experience in managing operational challenges, including building and maintaining playbooks, and guiding the local operations team through market launches on the transition to liquidity
  • Strategic Planning: Ability to craft and implement strategic roadmaps for expansion, including identifying key attributes for new market launches
  • Data Analysis: Strong analytical skills to track and analyze multiple market performances, monitor operational and marketplace metrics, and make data-driven decisions to optimize expansion strategy
  • Creativity and Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to creatively resolve intricate problems and find innovative solutions to complex marketplace dynamics
  • Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication skills to provide operational insights to local and central teams, act as a strategic advisor, and foster a culture of creativity and hands-on problem-solving within the team
  • Market Knowledge and Analysis: Deep understanding of marketplaces, including familiarity with the unique value propositions for riders and drivers, as well as knowledge of regulatory, competition, and operational nuances in different markets. Proficiency in conducting comprehensive research on various aspects such as competitors, market forces, and distilling key findings into actionable insights.
